Potlatch returns to Portland – it just took us a decade...
this time a bit later in the year – maybe no pesky ice storm

potlatch n. (1) A ceremonial feast among certain Native American peoples of the northwest Pacific coast ... at which the host distributes gifts requiring reciprocation [Chinook<Nootka patshatl, to make a potlatch gift]. (2) A gathering of the writers and readers of literary science fiction and fantasy at which participants exchange ideas.

Memberships: Preregistration is now closed. Full memberships are available at the door for $60. Saturday day rate: $35; Supporting: $10.00.

Daylight Saving Time: Please note that DST begins at 2am Sunday, during the convention.

Local Guide: If you are coming to the convention a little early, or want to do some research before you arrive, a PDF file of the Local Guide is now available.

Writers Workshop: is now closed.

Hotel news (updated 3/6/07): We've filled our block at the Red Lion for the peak nights (Friday and Saturday), and all other rooms are taken. We will contine to monitor the situation and will post information immediately if any more rooms become available.

Pretty much all the alternatives we've been listing are now full, but the Marriott Courtyard Downtown/Lloyd Center, about four blocks away, is now showing rooms available. (They must have had some cancellations.) Rooms there start at $99.

T-shirts: Potlatch 16 T-shirts will be available at the con; $15 per shirt, sizes M to 4XL. Design by Freddie Baer (of course), color black. You can see the design here.

• Programming: Friday 7:30-9:30pm, Saturday 10am-11pm, Sunday 11am-2:30pm
• Dealers: Friday 4-7pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 10am-2pm
• Hospitality: Friday 2pm-late, Saturday 8am-late, Sunday 8am-?
• Banquet: Sunday 11am-1pm
• Clarion West Auction: Saturday 8pm
