Clarion West Scholarship Auction
Potlatch is pleased and proud to host the Clarion West Scholarship Auction, which has been held at every Potlatch for the last 20 years. This Saturday evening event raises funds for the nonprofit Clarion West Writers Workshop. This year's auctioneers, Tom Whitmore and Allen Baum, will tempt you with all manner of goodies. From a specialty game to vintage Potlatch t-shirts to exclusive handmade items to a wide assortment of books, there will be something for everyone at the Clarion West auction!
Over the years, Potlatch auctions have received and sold: one of the first personal laser printers, Vonda McIntyre beaded sea creatures (and other works of scientific art), Ursula Le Guin privately distributed chapbooks, and original art jewelry by Elise Matthesen and Laurie Toby Edison.
A preview table will be available during the convention, giving you a chance to drool over your heart's desire, a late Valentine's day present, or the best silly thing you ever saw. A slideshow display of some of the items donated for this year's auction can be viewed by clicking here. A catalog of all donated items that we know of at this time can be reviewed here.
Donation items are still welcome; if you have interesting, amusing, or unusual items that you can bear to give up, we'll be happy to help them find a new home while benefiting aspiring writers. Contact Dawn now (firstname.lastname@example.org) to add your donation to her virtual catalog; and bring your donation items to us at the auction table near registration on Friday afternoon.
At auction checkout, we will accept cash, check, Paypal, and credit cards processed through Paypal.
One final note on helping those aspiring writers. To ensure that Clarion West receives the maximum benefit of your winning bid, we will add the mandatory 9.25% California's sales tax to your total amount due at auction sales checkout. If applicable, Paypal's processing fees of 2.2% + $.30 will also be added to your total amount due.
